Trump Demands George Soros, Son Face Federal Charges

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for federal racketeering charges against billionaire philanthropist George Soros and his son Alexander Soros, accusing them of supporting protest movements across the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump suggested the pair should face charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO, which is typically used to prosecute organized criminal activity.

“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of violent protests and much more throughout the United States,” Trump wrote. He did not provide evidence to support the allegation.

Longstanding Political Target

George Soros, a major Democratic donor and founder of the Open Society Foundations, has long been a frequent target of criticism from conservative politicians and commentators because of his financial support for progressive causes, voting rights groups, and criminal justice reform initiatives.

His son, Alexander Soros, has taken on a more prominent leadership role in the family’s philanthropic network in recent years and is widely seen as continuing his father’s political and charitable activities.
